A hybrid Go-on-Target system will be developed (in situ, no sampling) that will generate a complete stratigraphic profile of the object that will guide the restorer and the investigator in the micro/nanoscopic universe of the hidden layers of the compositions.

Complete spectral identification and discrimination at the molecular and atomic/ionic level is a very important result in the field, providing information about the original material, but also about degradation mechanisms, hidden defects, hidden layers, repainting, previous interventions, painting technique, new (contemporary) or historical materials validation etc. The hyperspectral analysis will digitally “decompose” the layers of the artwork and will reveal the particularities of the technique specific to an artist or a school.

By associating spectroscopic analyzes with the imaging ones using the GoT system, we will obtain a valuable tool for authentication of works of art, the anti-fraud fight and art trafficking, too.
